The Finnish company Moomin Characters, which owns the rights to the works of the writer and artist Tove Jansson, no longer issues licenses for the use of Moomin characters in Russia. The company also refused to renew the existing agreements, I found out the VPost project from a company representative.
According to the publication, the revocation of licenses is related to the sanctions imposed on Russia due to the war in Ukraine, as well as to the company's own position. One of the largest Moscow shopping centers Afimall has already faced the consequences of this decision: the site has urgently canceled the children's holiday "Spring Moomin Festival".
The Moomin trolls are the central characters in a series of books by the Finnish Swedish-language writer Tove Jansson. Her books were first published in Swedish and then translated into dozens of others.
