The authorities of the Bryansk region will spend 143 million rubles on protective structures

The authorities of the Bryansk region plan to spend up to 143 million rubles on the construction of fortifications in the border areas, the customer is the department of capital construction in the region. The publication "Polygon Media" drew attention to the corresponding purchase.

The exact date of the competition and the date of construction are unknown.

This is not the largest amount allocated by the region for defenses since the beginning of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Earlier, the Kursk region posted on the public procurement portal a contract for 3.2 billion rubles for the construction of protective structures, but after the news about this in the media and social networks, it hid the information. The governor of the Kursk region, which borders Ukraine, has repeatedly reported on the construction of defense lines to repel possible attacks. At the end of January, he published photos of concrete tetrahedrons that are used as fortifications, and before that, in October, pictures of pillboxes. The Minister of Construction of the Belgorod Region Oksana Kozlitina stated that the region spent 10 billion rubles on protective structures.

In early February, Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin reported to Russian President Vladimir Putin that residents of the border regions needed to be resettled due to ongoing shelling. The resettlement of residents of the Belgorod, Kursk and Bryansk regions needs 9.4 billion rubles, the official calculated. In response, Putin called eliminating "the very possibility of shelling" a priority task, adding that this is the business of the Ministry of Defense. Many people lost their homes due to the shelling and were forced to move to live with relatives, the president admitted, but he did not voice a solution to the problem.
