Ukrainian court sentences Russian military to 12 years for bullying civilians

A Ukrainian court has sentenced a Russian military man to 12 years in prison for abusing civilians. According to the Office of the Prosecutor General, he was convicted under Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of the laws and customs of war).

According to the prosecution, in March 2022, this serviceman, while in the occupied territory near the village of Buzovaya, Kyiv-Svyatoshinsky district, Kyiv region, stopped a car with a married couple who were trying to evacuate from the combat zone. Being drunk, the Russian forced the spouses to get out of the car, threatening with firearms, after which he forced the man to undress to the waist and hit him on the head with a rifle butt. In addition, as follows from the message, the serviceman tried to shoot, but could not do it for reasons beyond his control.

In early March, a court in Ukraine sentenced a Russian pilot who bombed the Kharkiv TV tower on March 6, 2022. He was found guilty of violating the laws and customs of war and sentenced to 12 years in prison. Ukrainian media believe that this is the deputy commander of the military unit of the 6th Army of the Air Force and Air Defense of the Western Military District of the Russian Armed Forces Alexei Loboda.
