“In Russia, it is still impossible to talk about something.” The actor of the Russian Drama Theater, who opened his veins, said that he could not speak otherwise

“I am now at home, I feel quite acceptable. I have received a huge amount of support and am extremely happy. Went in for a dressing and was prescribed antibiotics.

The conflict with the director arose at the end of January 2022, when the Minister of Culture offered me to study for an administrative position, and the director thought that I was going to take her place. After that, the bullying began. The pressure has been constantly on me since August 2022. When the so-called artistic director appeared in October, he kindly joined the director, and the two of them began to spread rot on me.

My position on the so-called “special military operation” is my position, and I am not expressing it yet, because it is still impossible to talk about something in Russia. I had no other choice, and the only way I could say something against what was happening. They brought me, they got me already with their actions. No one from the management talks to me anymore, if there were dialogues, I wrote them down. I wrote a statement to the police about bringing to suicide the director of the theater Natalia Svetozarova and the artistic director. Naturally, official checks were constantly carried out against me, all sorts of disciplinary sanctions were issued. On this basis, I was first deprived of a semi-annual bonus for the New Year, and then, when another director needed me as an artist, he asked me, but the artistic director refused him with the wording that I was the main enemy of the people and in general I would still be fired.

I was also once again deprived of the quarterly award and the award for the International Theater Day. My wife Svetlana wrote a letter of resignation, and it was signed. She is an Honored Artist of Buryatia and a leader of culture, 16 years in the theater. The letter of resignation is not some kind of manipulation by her, it is called to bring a person, because she tried to protect me all the time, fought for me, but she could not stand it. My boiling point resulted in me cutting my wrists.

Of course I want to fight. I understand that I am now a huge lightning rod from all the people who are in the theater. I feel support from colleagues. It is understandable that many are afraid and afraid. I don’t want to be some kind of martyr who will now be publicly beaten, but they are distracted by me and do not touch others.

The video with the actor was published on March 29, Shuvalov opened his veins right on the stage after the performance.
