The head of the Belarusian Union of Poles, Anzhelika Boris, has been released from house arrest, Belsat writes. The criminal case against her was dismissed "due to the lack of corpus delicti". This happened shortly after Polish officials allowed the complete closure of the border with Belarus, as well as after the ban on the passage of Belarusian heavy trucks through the Kukuryki checkpoint (borders on the Belarusian Kozlovichi checkpoint).
Boris was detained on March 23, 2021 on charges of inciting hatred and rehabilitating Nazism by a group of people. She was placed in a pre-trial detention center, where she spent a year, and in March 2022 she was transferred under house arrest. Together with her, five people were detained in the "case of the Union of Poles", including journalist Andrei Poczobut.
Everyone was accused of organizing "illegal mass events to honor members of anti-Soviet gangs that operated during and after the Great Patriotic War" – in Grodno and the Grodno region. Panisheva, Tishkovskaya and Bernatskaya were released and deported to Poland. Poczobut and Boris refused to be released with subsequent deportation. Pochobut was sentenced to eight years in a penal colony.
