The son of the Krasnoyarsk governor, who escaped from arrest in Italy, returned to Russia – the press service of the government of the Krasnoyarsk Territory

The son of the governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, Artem Uss, who is wanted by the US authorities on several charges, is in Russia. This was reported to Interfax by the press service of the regional government. They did not specify whether Governor Alexander Uss communicated with his son after his return.

Artem Uss was detained in Italy at the request of the United States in October. On March 21, a court in Milan approved the extradition, but two days later it became known that Uss broke the electronic bracelet and escaped from house arrest.

The United States accuses him of smuggling oil from Venezuela in circumvention of sanctions, exporting military technology from the United States, bank fraud and money laundering. In this case, Uss' business partner Yury Orekhov and three other Russians were also detained .

Russia has asked Italy to extradite Artem Uss. At home, he was charged with money laundering on an especially large scale by an organized group; in December, the Moscow City Court arrested Uss in absentia. Presumably, the Russian authorities thus tried to save him from extradition to the United States.
