Chinese citizen arrested in Kazan for “propaganda” of LGBT people

A court in Kazan arrested Chinese citizen Haoyang Xu for seven days on charges of distributing “LGBT propaganda” (Article 6.21 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). According to Sota, the court also ruled to expel him from Russia.

The reason for the persecution was YouTube videos in which Haoyang Xu and his friend Gela Gogishvili, according to the court, "touch each other on different parts of the body, including the genitals." The court also found that young people “spread among minors the desire to change sex,” although the YouTube channel was labeled 18+.

Haoyang Xu and Gela Gogishvili were detained the day before. Gogishvili was released after the protocol was drawn up, and his friend was left overnight at the police station.
