Spouses from Nizhny Tagil, accused of "espionage", "treason" and the transfer of secret information of a military-technical nature to Ukraine for 100 thousand rubles, worked at Uralvagonzavod. "Cold" identified Danila and Victoria Mukhametovs, they were identified by a local resident, as well as an acquaintance of the detained Russians.
During the detention, the woman, answering questions, stated that she had handed over drawings for 100,000 rubles to an employee of the special services of a foreign state. When asked where she wanted to spend the money, the woman replied: “Just to live.” Kholod drew attention to the fact that the FSB video contains several rough cuts.
The man, as TagilCity.ru reported citing sources, held the position of a process engineer and in 2022 participated in a scientific and practical conference of young professionals at Uralvagonzavod. According to the publication, the couple made copies of the documentation while working at Uralvagonzavod, and later handed them over to representatives of Ukraine.
Ruslan Bodrov, a resident of Nizhny Tagil (name and surname have been changed), told Kholod that the detention took place at 23 Altaiskaya Street, he recognized the entrance from the video. According to him, the man in the video is called Danil Mukhametov. On his page on VKontakte, it is indicated that he works at Uralvagonzavod, as well as a photographer.
Another interlocutor of the publication, Yan Pakhomov (name and surname have been changed), who studied with Mukhametov at the Nizhny Tagil Engineering College, confirmed that he recognized the detainee. Mukhametov's wife Victoria, according to Pakhomov, also worked at the plant as a technologist. Pakhomov argues that the Mukhametov family was unlikely to have access to secret documents and drawings, because a separate design bureau is engaged in secret work. Also, an employee of Uralvagonzavod needs to install special programs on smartphones that block the use of the camera at the plant. At the same time, some workers take smartphones for repair in order to remove the camera from the case, Pakhomov emphasized.
On April 4, the FSB detained a married couple in Nizhny Tagil for “espionage in the interests of Ukraine” at an enterprise of the military-industrial complex, which one was not specified.
Earlier, the American journalist of The Wall Street Journal Evan Gershkovich was arrested on suspicion of espionage. Shortly before his arrest, he visited Nizhny Tagil. The FSB said that the journalist was trying to obtain secret information on the instructions of the American government and was collecting materials on the activities of one of the enterprises of the military-industrial complex. In Nizhny Tagil, in particular, there is a defense enterprise "Uralvagonzavod".
