Fake Kremlin media: Zelensky is ready to unite Ukraine with Poland

Rossiyskaya Gazeta, RIA Novosti, RT and other propaganda publications write that "expert circles close to Vladimir Zelensky's office" are allegedly discussing the possibility of creating a single state with Poland – a kind of "new Commonwealth".

The reason was Zelensky's statement in Poland:

“In the future, there will be no borders between our peoples: political, economic and, what is very important, historical. But for this you still need to win. To do this, you need to go side by side a little more,” the Ukrainian president said at a press conference with his Polish counterpart Andrzej Duda.

Zelensky's words undoubtedly fell on fertile ground in Russia. The press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov even joined the topic:

“If Mr. Zelensky had in mind the absorption of Ukraine by Poland, this needs to be sorted out. If Mr. Zelensky wants to follow the path of his neighbors, for example, to announce that there will be no more Ukrainian language, but there will be a Polish language – we also saw such precedents in the neighborhood of Ukraine – this can hardly be understood in any way. Probably, we still need to be patient and continue to follow the statements of Mr. Zelensky in order to understand the plan, ”Peskov told reporters.

Rossiyskaya Gazeta also recalled the words of the director of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, Sergei Naryshkin, who repeatedly claimed that Poland wanted to seize the western part of Ukraine.

In fact, Zelensky, speaking about the absence of borders, had in mind Ukraine's entry into the European Union, between the member countries of which there are actually no borders. This is confirmed by the words of Andrzej Duda, which he said on the same day at a meeting with the Ukrainian president:

“I hope that there will be no physical border between Poland and Ukraine after the war. Especially when Ukraine becomes part of the European Union. That ordinary people, when they go from Ukraine to Poland, will not know at all where that border once was, they will recognize it only by the buildings standing somewhere in the side where border checks once took place.

Ukraine has long been open about its desire to join the European Union and has been a candidate for membership since the summer of 2022, so there are no revelations in Zelensky's words.

As for the “discussions of the unification of Poland and Ukraine in circles close to Zelensky’s office”, the source of this information is not the “Ukrainian media”, but the pro-Kremlin propaganda publication Strana.ua, which has been repeatedly seen in the distribution of fakes and PR of “Putin’s godfather” Viktor Medvedchuk. Hacking the correspondence of Russian propagandist Iskander Khisamov revealed that Strana.ua was part of a network of pro-Kremlin outlets such as Ukraina.ru, which was run by Khisamov. It is unlikely that the sources of such a publication are trustworthy.
