The Israeli armed forces have attacked targets in Lebanon and Gaza (the largest city in the Gaza Strip as part of the Palestinian National Authority) in retaliation for rocket attacks that Israel blames on the Islamist group Hamas, Reuters reported .
Israel reported that its planes hit 10 targets, including tunnels and Hamas weapons manufacturing facilities. The Israeli military also said they had attacked three Hamas infrastructure facilities in southern Lebanon.
"We strongly condemn the blatant Zionist aggression against Lebanon today at dawn in the vicinity of Tire," Hamas said in a statement.
Two Lebanese security sources told Reuters that the strike was on a small building on farmland near the area where the rockets had previously been fired from. As a result of the impact, a large crater formed at this place. A Lebanese civil defense spokesman who arrived at the scene said there were no casualties.
The strikes were in response to Lebanese rocket attacks on northern Israel, for which Israeli officials blamed Hamas. According to the Israeli side, Lebanon fired 34 missiles towards Israel, of which 25 were intercepted by air defense systems. According to the media, the attack was the largest since 2006.
