The Moscow Times: Founder of “Yandex” sent a spy to the squatters who seized his house in Amsterdam

The squatters who seized the mansion of Yandex founder Arkady Volozh in Amsterdam claim that he sent a spy to them, writes The Moscow Times. According to the residents, a certain person, who introduced himself as a refugee from Ukraine, collected dirt on them for two months.

“We opened the premises for him and welcomed him with open arms. Now we have learned that he was spying on us and passing information to Volozh's lawyers in an attempt to discredit and evict us,” the squatters said in a press release received by the editors. Thanks to the spy, Volozh allegedly received and sent to the court video and photo materials from the house, as well as screenshots from the chat of activists living in his mansion.

Squatters took over a five-story mansion in Amsterdam in October 2022. Formally, the house belongs to the company in the British Virgin Islands. According to the Dutch media, this is an offshore through which Volozh acquired the mansion. The businessman tried to evict the squatters through the courts, but he refused to do this, citing the fact that the house was arrested due to EU sanctions imposed on Volozh.
