A resident of Sakhalin was detained on suspicion of treason. He allegedly was going to fight on the side of Ukraine

The FSB detained a man in Sakhalin who allegedly was going to go to Ukraine to fight against the Russian army there. This was reported by RIA Novosti on the morning of April 11.

The detainee is suspected under the article on treason. The press service of the FSB said that he planned to enter Ukraine through the territory of a third country.

The released video of the detention also shows the airport. Apparently, the Sakhalin citizen was taken to Moscow for investigation.

The FSB regularly reports on the detention of Russians who allegedly were going to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine. These people are usually not named. On April 7, a draft law was submitted to the State Duma, providing, in particular, for toughening the punishment for high treason up to life imprisonment.
