Eurocontrol: Restrictions in Russian airspace will remain at least until 2029

Restrictions on civil aviation flights in Russian airspace will last at least until 2029, according to the European Organization for the Safety of Air Navigation.

“We currently assume that the airspace of Ukraine and Russia remains closed until the end of the planning horizon (2029),” the organization’s forecast reads.

Flight restrictions will also remain in the airspace of Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova until at least 2029, the forecast says.

Ukraine completely closed its airspace to civilian aircraft on February 24, the day the Russian invasion began. Europe and the US have closed their skies to Russian aircraft. Later, Russia introduced retaliatory measures for these countries.
