New amendments to the law "On military duty and military service" made changes to the paragraphs on conscripts. The current law excludes the norm according to which the Ministry of Defense has the right to offer a conscripted serviceman to conclude a contract only three months after it begins. This was noticed by the Telegram channel of journalists Farida Rustamova and Maxim Tovkaylo Faridaily and the BBC Russian Service .
Thus, conscripts will be able to go to the front instantly. Now the authorities say that there are no conscripts at the front. At the same time, for the period of mobilization, contracts become virtually unlimited, according to Putin’s decree on “partial mobilization”: “Contracts for military service concluded by military personnel continue to be valid until the end of the period of partial mobilization,” the decree says. Recall that Putin never issued a decree to stop partial mobilization: the authorities say that such a decree is not needed and that mobilization activities have been completed.
The amendments actually allow 18-year-olds to go to the front immediately after graduating from high school. You don't even need to graduate from college or university. Deputy Andrey Kartapolov suggested adopting such an amendment last year, but after the publicity it was not considered. At the same time, deputy Nina Ostanina said that this was “great news for all mothers and fathers”, whose children, if the amendment is adopted, “from the school bench, who want to earn money under the contract today, will simply be unprotected.”
On April 11, this amendment was adopted almost unanimously.
