The creator of the amateur radio wave received 6 years for “calling for violence against Putin”

The Central District Military Court in Yekaterinburg sentenced Kirill Akimov to 6 years in prison for creating an amateur radio wave and calling for violence against Putin on the air.

Akimov, who used the pseudonym "Mordovia farmer", was found guilty by the court of incitement to terrorism using the media. He is also prohibited from engaging in amateur radio activities for three years.

Akimov managed to spend only two broadcasts. According to the prosecution, it was in them that he allegedly called on Ukrainians and Europeans to violence against Putin and his supporters. Akimov was detained and arrested in June 2022.

The media note that, in addition to political topics, the radio amateur spoke on the air about beekeeping, gardening and processing fields from Colorado beetles.

As Mediazona recalls, in 2018 Akimov was fined because he (under other pseudonyms) broadcast on a frequency “bordering on the frequency range” of civil aviation.
