Russian chess player Ian Nepomniachtchi lost the sixth game of the match for the world title to the Chinese Ding Liren. Thus, the total score was equal – 3:3.
Liren, who played with the white pieces, started the match with the London system. The inaccuracies made by Nepomniachtchi led to the fact that Black lost counterplay, and White was able to gradually increase the pressure all over the field. Subsequently, the Russian chess player had several chances to turn the tide of the game, but he failed to realize them in full.
In the end, Liren won in 44 moves, with Nepomniachtchi admitting that he "played one of the worst games of my life, every move [in which] was bad or inaccurate."
The seventh game will take place on April 18, Nepomniachtchi will play with white pieces.
