Alexei Navalny commented on the verdict on the Russian opposition politician and journalist Vladimir Kara-Murza, he made a statement at a meeting on a lawsuit against the colony. The statement was published in the Navalny Team accounts on social networks.
“I am deeply indignant at the verdict that was passed today on Vladimir Kara-Murza. He got 25 years. I assess this verdict as illegal, unscrupulous and simply fascist.
I believe that Vladimir Kara-Murza is being persecuted for political reasons. I want to express my support to him and his family members. I am very worried about his health. I saw him after the second poisoning and witnessed how his health was already almost destroyed.
The term he received is revenge for the fact that he did not die at one time, having survived two poisonings, which were apparently committed, and this has already been proven, by the FSB of Russia.
On April 17, the Moscow City Court sentenced Kara-Murza to 25 years in prison – 3 years under the article on the activities of an undesirable organization, 7 years under the article on "fake news about the army", and another 18 years – for "treason". The politician has been in a Moscow pre-trial detention center on charges of spreading fake news since April 2022. The case was brought because of Kara-Murza's performance in the Arizona House of Representatives on March 15, 2022. Later, he was charged with carrying out the activities of an “undesirable organization”, since on October 27, 2021, Kara-Murza held a conference in the Moscow Sakharov Center in support of Russian political prisoners with the money of the non-governmental organization (NGO) Free Russia Foundation.
On April 11, Navalny was sent to the ShIZO for 15 days for the 13th time. In previous times, he got there because of the word "fuck" in a conversation with a cellmate and for violating the uniform and not wearing a jacket. Previously, people with hygiene problems and patients with the flu were repeatedly placed in the ShIZO with Navalny. At some point, a man with a mental disorder was placed in the next cell, who screamed day and night.
