In 2022, more than 667 million records of personal data and payment information leaked in Russia. This is indicated by the data of the study by the InfoWatch Group, to which RBC refers . This is almost three times more than in 2021.
As noted in InfoWatch, the number of leaked records last year exceeded the population of Russia by more than 4.5 times. In addition, each leak in 2022 increased by a third in volume compared to last year and contained about 940,000 records. Most of the leaks – 80% – have a hybrid impact vector. This means that both external and internal performers can be involved in them. Small businesses accounted for 20% of the leaks, twice as many as in 2021.
The most noticeable increase in leaks was recorded in the organizations of the Retail & HoReCa industry group. Their number has grown five times, and among industrial, transport and energy companies – almost three times. The number of leaks in the “trade secret” category also doubled.
Of the latest major leaks, one can name the Roskomnadzor data leak that occurred in early February. The network got letters from employees of the "daughter" of the department – the "Main Radio Frequency Center" (GRFC), which contained a list of potential "foreign agents", as well as statistics on publications.
