The State Duma adopted amendments on the deprivation of acquired citizenship for “discrediting” the army, extremism and “threat to national security”

The State Duma adopted amendments to the draft law "On Citizenship", which allow the deprivation of acquired citizenship for "threat to national security", as well as for public calls for action against territorial integrity, "discredit" of the RF Armed Forces and participation in an "undesirable" foreign or international non-governmental organization. It is reported by RIA Novosti.

The Insider drew attention to how in Russia journalists, activists and even priests are deprived of their citizenship for the “wrong” political position, activism and helping migrants.

Previously, the authorities hastily adopted a large package of amendments on electronic agendas, although literally before that they stated that there were no such plans. Also, before the adoption of the bill on the creation of a unified register of military records and the sending of electronic summonses, the State Duma promised that the amendments would not apply to the spring draft of 2023, but later changed their minds again, adding that test mailing of digital summonses would be possible "only after the adoption of a decree of the government of the Russian Federation ". The deputies themselves cannot study all the bills adopted in a hurry – the deputy from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Nina Ostanina admitted that she would not be able to answer voters' questions about the content of each amendment.
