References to Kyiv were removed from the Russian textbook in the section on Kievan Rus

From the textbook "The World Around" for the fourth grade, published by the publishing house "Prosveshcheniye", several references to Kyiv in the chapters on the history of Kievan Rus disappeared. This was reported by Mediazona, which reviewed several pages of the new version of the textbook and compared them with the 2021 version.

For example, in the old edition it was said that the chronicle "The Tale of Bygone Years" was written by the monk of the Kiev-Pechersk monastery Nestor. And in the new version, Nestor is simply called a monk, where he served is not specified.

In addition, as Mediazona notes, the 2021 version of the textbook said that Prince Vladimir baptized the people in Kyiv, while the new version says “in the capital.”

The phrase "After the death of Oleg, Prince Igor began to rule in Kyiv" was also changed. It was replaced by: "After the death of Oleg, Rus was ruled by Prince Igor."

The new edition of the textbook has not yet gone on sale, it has only been sent to print. Methodological materials are also being prepared for release, which clarify the role of Kyiv in the history of Russia. According to the interlocutor of "Mediazona" in the publishing house "Enlightenment", these materials will go to schools before the end of spring and will be used in the next academic year.
