The prosecutor's office of St. Petersburg organized an inspection after an appeal "about possible violations of the law" in the psycho-neurological boarding school (PNI) No. 10 in St. Petersburg, RIA Novosti reports . Nyuta Federmesser, an activist and founder of the Vera Hospice Charitable Foundation, asked the authorities of St. Petersburg a week ago to start checking after the death of six children and warned about the critical condition of another child, but the prosecutor's office began to act only after the seventh death. On the evening of April 18, Federmesser published on her Telegram channel a new appeal to ministers, parliamentarians and ombudsmen with a request to punish those responsible for the deaths of children.
According to her, the rights of orphans are violated in PNI No. 10, they are poorly fed, and employees do not have time to take care of all the children properly. At the same time, the authorities did not respond to a warning about the boy’s condition; he died on April 17 in the Alexander Hospital, his death was the seventh.
The head of the PNI, Ivan Veryovkin, was repeatedly warned about the condition of the children, the philanthropist noted. The lack of care for children with severe multiple developmental disabilities (SMDD) has been known for more than a year. They need an individual medical post and specialized nutrition, but there are not enough staff, and volunteers are not allowed to do this work.
