“The preparatory period is coming to an end, during which we created a centralized structure. It will provide methodological support for the activities of regional centers and coordinate their work. This central structure, the headquarters for fulfilling the task set by the president, will be headed by Admiral Avakyants, who until recently commanded the Pacific Fleet,” Trutnev said.
On the website of the Ministry of Defense, Sergei Avakyants is still called the commander of the Pacific Fleet. He took this position in 2012, and received the rank of admiral in 2014.
