The governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, whose son escaped from arrest in Italy, announced his resignation

68-year-old Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory Alexander Uss announced his resignation. Here is how he explained this decision:

“The other day I had a meeting with the President of our country, Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin.

I received an offer to continue working at the federal level. But at the same time to deal with issues of socio-economic development of our region. First of all, I want to thank the President for the trust and support, as well as everyone with whom we were together in difficult moments and walked towards our common achievements and successes. I am confident that the Krasnoyarsk Territory will retain the status of one of the key regions of Russia in the future.”

In early April, Uss recorded a video message in which he thanked everyone who was worried about his son Artem, who was arrested in Italy at the request of the United States and then escaped from house arrest. He expressed special gratitude to Vladimir Putin, saying that he is not "just the head of our state, he is a man with a big and open heart."

Artem Uss was detained in Italy in October, and in March a court in Milan approved his extradition to the United States. Two days later, the Russian escaped from house arrest. After that, the Italian Ministry of Justice initiated disciplinary proceedings against three judges for placing Uss under house arrest and wearing an electronic bracelet in November 2022, and local media wrote about the “failure” of the Italian intelligence services.

Italian investigators have already identified several people who helped Uss escape. In total, according to local media, Uss was helped by a group of "less than ten people." According to the prosecutor's office in Milan, in a few hours, Uss left Italy, changing several cars. According to investigators, the governor's son went to Slovenia, then to Serbia, from where he flew to Russia.
