The Russian Ministry of Defense explained the explosion in Belgorod as "an abnormal gathering of aviation munitions."

“On April 20, during the flight of the Su-34 VKS aircraft over the city of Belgorod, an abnormal derailment of aviation ammunition occurred. As a result, there is damage to residential buildings, there are no casualties. An investigation is underway,” the Ministry of Defense said in a statement.

After the explosion in Belgorod, damage was found in four apartments in an apartment building on Shalandina Street, Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said . At least 4 vehicles were also damaged.
