Italy froze the villa and the account of the son of the ex-governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, Artem Uss, who escaped from arrest

The Italian authorities have frozen the assets of the Russian businessman and son of the governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory Alexander Uss, Artem Uss, who was arrested at the request of the United States and escaped from house arrest to Russia pending extradition. This was reported by the newspaper Il Messaggero with reference to the decree of the Minister of Economy and Finance of Italy, Giancarlo Giorgetti.

According to the publication, among the seized assets are a villa in Basiglio near Milan, an account worth about 160,000 euros in a Sardinian bank and a 40.11% stake in Luxury Sardinia.

On April 20, it became known that the governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, Alexander Uss, was resigning. On April 4, the press service of the government of the Krasnoyarsk Territory reported that Artem Uss was in Russia. His preventive measure was changed to a written undertaking not to leave: a Russian court in December arrested him in absentia on charges of money laundering.

Artem Uss was detained in Italy in October. The US accuses Uss of smuggling oil from Venezuela to circumvent sanctions, exporting military technology from the United States, bank fraud and money laundering. In this case, Uss's business partner Yury Orekhov and three other Russian citizens were detained . In March, the court approved his extradition to the United States, two days later the governor's son escaped from house arrest. Italian law enforcers do not exclude that this happened with the help of Russian special services. The Russian authorities appealed to Italy with a request to extradite Uss, referring to the criminal case initiated against him. Presumably, in this way they tried to save him from being extradited to the United States.
