The Soviet District Court of Bryansk sent Konstantin Pavlov, a deputy of the regional Duma from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, to a pre-trial detention center. He is accused of fraud on an especially large scale (part 4, article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). According to investigators, from December 2020 to December 2021, Pavlov, together with an accomplice, received a bribe in the amount of 35 million rubles from Bryansk businessmen. For this money, they allegedly promised him that they would help to commission a closed shopping center. The alleged partner of the deputy is also accused in the case.
After a “partial” mobilization was announced in Russia, Pavlov helped Russians illegally sent to war to return home. According to the publication "7×7", he helped at least 40 soldiers. At the same time, Pavlov rather supports the war against Ukraine itself: “I am convinced that the military operation in Ukraine is a necessary measure” (spelling preserved). The deputy also reposted a publication with a message about “the death in battle of the first secretary of the Lugansk city committee of the Communist Party Andrey Yuryev.”
The leader of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation in Bryansk, Andrei Arkhitsky, in a conversation with Novosti Bryansk , said that he did not believe that Pavlov was involved in fraud: “I do not believe in this. I also told law enforcement officers about this. This situation is more like a set-up. Anyway, I don't believe it!" The press service of the Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee reported to Novosti Bryansk that the persecution of Pavlov was not connected with his social and political activities.
