Petersburg police adopt the experience of the NKVD during the war – “Fontanka”

The heads of structural units of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region were ordered to familiarize themselves with the memo on how the NKVD of the USSR fought "with nationalist formations in the western regions of the Soviet Union." It is reported by "Fontanka".

The document, created at the All-Russian Research Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, is presented for study in the system of state-legal information on 28 pages. Judging by the title, it also contains examples of using the experience of the NKVD "during a special military operation."

In May 2022, 130 employees of the special regiment of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region went to the occupied Ukrainian territories in the Donbas to serve. Their main task was to protect important objects.

According to Fontanka, police officers from the patrol and operational services went on a business trip voluntarily. It was also planned to send criminal investigation operatives to the occupied territories, but at the last moment it was considered premature.

This is not the first time the Russian police have been seen sympathizing with the NKVD. So, in 2021, in Volgograd, during the parade on May 9, modern police officers dressed in the uniform of employees of this Soviet department marched through the streets of the city.
