The German company Adidas, which closed stores in Russia, may transfer the local division to a foreign investor. According to Kommersant, citing sources in the real estate market and experts, in this way the company will be able to restart about a hundred of the most profitable stores in the chain in a new format and, most likely, with a new name.
There is no official confirmation (or any comments) from the company itself on this matter yet.
Adidas announced the suspension of activities in the Russian Federation after the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. A few months later, the company announced that it was finally leaving the country.
At the same time, as Kommersant notes, the Russian structure of Adidas is trying to maintain its activity. In particular, the company subleased office space for the next three years, and also signed contracts for the sublease of warehouse space.
Adidas LLC's revenue fell by 55% last year, and the loss reached almost 8 billion rubles compared to a net profit of almost 4 billion rubles last year.
