Resident of Vyborg was given 11 years for plans to set fire to the draft board

The 2nd Western District Military Court sentenced to 11 years in prison a resident of Vyborg, who, according to the prosecution, planned to set fire to the military enlistment office. According to Petersburg Diary, the verdict has already entered into force. The convict will spend three years in prison, and the remaining term in a special regime colony.

The press service of the FSB department for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region stated that the man conspired with a certain person from Ukraine to set fire to the Vyborg military enlistment office. The criminal case was initiated under Part 4 of Article 205.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Assistance to terrorist activities through the organization of a crime).

After the start of the mobilization, announced in September 2022, a wave of arsons of military registration and enlistment offices swept through the Russian regions. At first, these acts were qualified as damage to property, but later they began to open cases under terrorist articles. Several similar sentences were handed down in the annexed Crimea.
