Crimean Tatar Leniya Umerova arrested in treason case

The Lefortovsky District Court of Moscow arrested the Crimean Tatar Lenya Umerova in a case of treason. This follows from the base of the Moscow courts, drew the attention of Mediazona.

According to media reports, Lenia Umerova was detained in early December 2022 in North Ossetia. She crossed the border at the Upper Lars checkpoint when she was traveling by Tbilisi-Simferopol bus to Crimea to visit her sick father. After that, she was sent under administrative arrest several times.

According to BBC estimates, at least 25 people have been detained in Russia under the article on "treason" since the beginning of the year.
