All units of the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) have been shut down. This was stated by the “director” of the nuclear power plant, Yuri Chernichuk, appointed by the occupation authorities of the Russian Federation, the statement was published on the ZNPP Telegram channel.
“There are no grounds for concern. All blocks are stopped. The equipment is serviced in accordance with all necessary regulations with strict control of radiation safety standards.”
On May 4, adviser to the general director of Rosenergoatom, Renat Karchaa, told TASS about the threat of flooding of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant in the event of a breakthrough of the dam of the Kakhovka reservoir. Vladimir Rogov, a member of the council of the regional "administration" appointed by the Russian Federation, also argued that the water level in the Kakhovka reservoir had reached a critical level, a dam breakthrough could threaten to flood several dozen settlements. After that, the occupying authorities of the Zaporozhye region announced the "temporary displacement" of residents of 18 settlements in the region, including Energodar. Also, the “authorities” claimed that there was no need to evacuate the station employees and residents of Energodar, where the nuclear power plant is located.
Earlier in April, at the Zaporizhzhya NPP (ZNPP), the windows of the turbine hall of the fourth power unit were knocked out by a blast wave, said Renat Karchaa, adviser to the head of Rosenergoatom. According to him, this happened due to the operation of the UAV. Before that, the head of the IAEA, Rafael Grossi, announced "military preparations" at the ZNPP. Experts at the site reported hearing explosions, sometimes indicative of heavy shelling near the nuclear power plant. Zaporozhye NPP has been under the control of Russian troops almost since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. All this time, the authorities controlled by the Russian Federation, including Ukrainian officials who have defected to Russia, have been terrorizing the station employees – they are kidnapped, interrogated and tortured. On December 8, two workers were severely beaten , they were taken away in an unknown direction. In July, it became known about the death of Andrey Goncharuk, a diver of the ZNPP hydroshop, due to torture: they tried to force him to drain the cooling pools of the reactors.
