Coronation of Charles III in London

The coronation of King Charles III of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and his wife Camilla took place in London, Charles III took the oath of allegiance.

The procession passed from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Abbey, Charles III arrived there by carriage. He became the 40th British monarch to be crowned at the abbey since 1066.

The crown of St. Edward, which was created in 1661 for the coronation of Charles II, was brought into the hall.

The ceremony was attended by over 2,300 guests from over 200 countries. Representatives of Russia were not invited to the coronation.

First Lady of Ukraine Elena Zelenskaya arrived at the coronation of Charles III. The Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmygal was present with her.

Residents gathered in the streets along the route of the solemn procession. At the same time, in some places, people opposed to the preservation of the monarchy staged protests.

The ceremony took place eight months after the death of Prince Charles' mother, Queen Elizabeth II. Charles III assumed the British throne on September 8, 2022.
