FSB announced the prevention of a drone attack on a military airport in the Ivanovo region

FSB officers claim to have prevented an attack by drones filled with explosives at the Severny military airfield in the Ivanovo region. This was reported by Interfax with reference to the press service of the TsOS FSB.

The intelligence service said that the "sabotage and terrorist act" was planned by the main intelligence department of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, and the purpose of the attack was allegedly "A-50 early warning and control aircraft." Explosive devices for sabotage were planned to be delivered from the territory of Ukraine on a light-engine Aeroprakt-A 32 aircraft from the village of Blistov, Chernihiv region, the FSB reported.

“As a result of organized control over the flight of the aircraft, in order to prevent sabotage, the pilot, as well as members of the DRG recruited by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, were detained after landing in the Tula region at the time of the transfer of weapons,” the report says.

After the Kremlin attack and a series of drone attacks on oil depots and oil refineries in southern Russia and the Crimean peninsula, a discussion about the scale and nature of Ukrainian unmanned aircraft activity outside the combat zone came to the fore in the context of the war with Ukraine. The Insider collected and analyzed information published in open sources about incidents with UAVs in Russia, Crimea and Sevastopol from April 29 to May 7.
