The Administrative Court of Berlin allowed the display of Russian flags and other symbols during the event, which is due to take place on May 9 on June 17 Street in Berlin. This is reported by Radio Berlin and Brandenburg.
Earlier, the city police limited the possibility of demonstrating both Russian and Ukrainian symbols on May 8 and 9 in order to prevent provocations. A similar ban was in effect in 2022. However, on May 6, the Berlin Administrative Court ruled that the ban on Ukrainian symbols was lifted .
The Berlin police intend to appeal against the decision allowing the demonstration of Russian flags and other symbols in the Supreme Administrative Court of Berlin. At the same time, it is noted that the police are not going to appeal against the decision regarding the Ukrainian flags.
Law enforcement officials explained the ban on the demonstration of both Russian and Ukrainian symbols by the desire to ensure “a worthy memory of the fallen soldiers of the Soviet Army” and the need to prevent conflicts.
