Ukraine opened a criminal case against Vladimir Mashkov

In Ukraine, a criminal case has been opened against Russian actor and propagandist Vladimir Mashkov. He is accused of encroaching on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine, the Office of the Prosecutor General said in a statement. Mashkov is charged with participating in Z-concerts in Russia and the occupied part of the Luhansk and Donetsk regions of Ukraine. Mashkov is also accused of calling for the annexation of the Luhansk, Donetsk, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions and supporting pseudo-referendums on their accession to Russia.

“[Mashkov] justified, recognized as lawful the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, glorified the occupiers. The conclusions of forensic linguistic examinations confirmed that the texts of the materials published by [him] are of a propaganda nature and are aimed at justifying, recognizing the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine as lawful, it is confirmed that he made calls to change the borders of the territory and the state border of Ukraine,” the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine said in a statement. It is also emphasized that Mashkov repeatedly violated the rules of entry into Ukraine. He visited the occupied territories and met with representatives of the Kremlin-appointed authorities there.

Now the issue of putting Mashkov on the international wanted list is being decided. In Ukraine, personal sanctions have been imposed on the actor since March 2022. He regularly speaks out in support of the “Russian world”, travels to the “DPR” in a T-shirt with the letter Z and vilifies the Russians who have left. It is also known that after the start of the war, Mashkov asked his daughter Masha to return from the United States so that she could "ask forgiveness for betrayal and help the people of Russia in the fight against the Nazis." Mashkova herself supports Ukraine.
