Israeli airstrikes in Gaza have killed three Islamic Jihad commanders and at least nine civilians, including four children, Reuters reported , citing Palestinian authorities. Another 20 people were injured.
During the shelling of Gaza, a Russian citizen named Jamal Abu Haswan was killed, a representative of the Palestinian Ministry of Health told RIA Novosti. The Russian headed a medical facility in the Gaza Strip that specialized in physiotherapy and rehabilitation. A friend of Haswan's told the agency that he was killed along with his wife and child when a rocket hit their apartment.
The Israeli military also raided the West Bank city of Nablus.
Islamic Jihad spokesman Tarek Selmi promised that Israel's strike would not go unanswered. This group, operating in Palestine, is included in the list of terrorist organizations by Western countries and enjoys the support of Iran.
