The son of the ex-governor of the Irkutsk region was released on parole after serving less than a year on charges of fraud

The Angarsk city court of the Irkutsk region granted the request of the son of the former governor of the region Andrei Levchenko for parole and decided to release him from the colony, the press service of the court reports .

Within two years and two months, Levchenko will have to be registered with the Federal Penitentiary Service. He is also forbidden to change his place of residence and visit places of entertainment from 22:00 to 07:00.

Andrei Levchenko was detained in September 2020. In July 2022, he was sentenced to 9 years in prison on charges of fraud and restricting competition to generate income. He was accused of illegally receiving income from the Irkutsk Capital Repair Fund, with which the company he created in Moscow entered into agreements to replace elevators. The prosecutor's office estimated the total illegally extracted income at almost 1 billion rubles. In March 2023, the court commuted Levchenko's sentence to 6 years in prison.

In 2018, Levchenko was elected to the legislature of the Irkutsk region from the Communist Party.
