The Armed Forces of Ukraine captured more than ten positions of the Russian military in the north and south of the outskirts of Bakhmut and cleared out part of the forest in the Ivanovo district. This was announced by the Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Anna Malyar in her Telegram channel. According to her, the Armed Forces of Ukraine also captured several Russian soldiers from different military units.

“Ours operate on the verge of superhuman capabilities. They act tough, decisively and professionally. <…> Thanks to the thoughtful planning of the command and the instant reaction to the actions of the enemy, the stamina and courage of our soldiers, today the enemy cannot surround the city and achieve a resounding victory in this direction, ”Malyar writes.

In early May, the Armed Forces of Ukraine began to counterattack near Bakhmut. On May 10 , the Ukrainian military claimed to have defeated several units of the Russian 72nd separate motorized rifle brigade there. “Offensive operations were carried out in a strip 3 km wide and 2.6 km deep, the entire territory was completely liberated from the Russian occupation forces,” the Armed Forces of Ukraine report. On May 12 , Malyar reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine had advanced another 2 km in the Bakhmut direction and had not lost a single position over the past week.
