French President Emmanuel Macron said that France will transfer additional military assistance to Ukraine. It will include armored vehicles, AMX-10 tanks and ammunition and missiles. According to Macron, the range of the latter two "will allow Ukraine to resist and lead the counteroffensive." He noted that we are not talking about weapons that can "reach Russia." The long-range missiles that France has are the same Storm Shadow. They are produced by the UK and France and are called SCALP-EG in French. Macron stressed that he was not talking about weapons that could "reach Russia."
Earlier, the UK also handed over Storm Shadow to Ukraine. This delivery was announced by British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace on May 11. So far, these are the first and only long-range missiles Ukraine has. The range of the export version of Storm Shadow is more than 250 km. For the first time, the Armed Forces of Ukraine used it on May 12, during the shelling of Lugansk. The occupied city is located 90 km from the front line, so GMLRS, which hit 60-70 km, cannot reach it.
Military experts and analysts at the Conflict Intelligence Team believe that the transfer of long-range missiles to Ukraine could change the course of the war.
