In Kazan, four activists and journalists were searched in the framework of the case of “repeated discredit”

Four people were simultaneously searched in Kazan: journalist Naila Mullaeva, activists Vera Otreshko and Zulfiya Sitdikova, and a person who wished to remain anonymous. SOTA writes about this and the Respublikasy Telegram channel, which provides information support for Tatarstan activists.

According to Respublikasa, the searches are being carried out as part of a criminal case of “repeated discrediting” of the Russian army, brought against a certain P. Chumakov. The activist, who wished to remain anonymous, reports that letters from political prisoner Andrei Barshinov, who is accused of “calling terrorism” and “justification of terrorism” (part 2 of article 205.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), the book “Closed. The life of homosexuals in the USSR”, a libertarian flag, equipment, a personal diary, badges with the flag of Ukraine, posters, old editions of Novaya Gazeta and a press card. Boyarshinov's certificates and letters of thanks, as well as Russian and Latvian SIM cards, were confiscated from Mullaeva. She is a witness in the case. The security forces took away all the equipment from Otreshko, as well as her daughter's phone.

Mullaeva told SOTA that the search warrant emphasized that earlier administrative protocols had been drawn up against the journalist on participation in rallies and on “discrediting the army.” This allegedly became the basis for the search. Who is Chumakov, the security forces did not specify, saying that he himself was also searched a week ago.
