French President Emmanuel Macron announced the creation of an international "registry of damage" inflicted on Ukraine since the start of a full-scale Russian invasion. According to AFP, he said this at the summit of the Council of Europe in Reykjavik.
It is planned to enter information on damages and claims for compensation in the register. The list will be available to individuals and legal entities, as well as Ukrainian authorities, including state-owned or state-controlled enterprises.
Macron called on all states to join the development of this registry. He also called on the Council of Europe to help create 100 psychological centers to help victims of Russian aggression.
Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said that the creation of the register will become a real mechanism for compensation to Ukraine.
“I think we will take a real step towards finding a mechanism to compensate for the atrocities that Russia has inflicted in Ukraine. This is just the first step. Ahead is the creation of a compensation mechanism. And in the end, there should be a tribunal for the crimes of Russian aggression,” he said.
