In the Bryansk region, a 94-year-old prisoner of a German concentration camp was denied social support

The department of social protection of the population of the Karachaevsky district of the Bryansk region refused to provide social support to a 94-year-old local resident who was a prisoner of a German concentration camp during World War II. As a result, the woman turned to the prosecutor's office. During the audit, the department received documents confirming the fact of her being in a concentration camp.

The prosecutor's office filed a lawsuit with a demand to recognize the woman's right to receive social support. The court granted the demand, but it is not clear when it will come into force.

It is not known for what reason the prisoner of the concentration camp was denied social support. The categories of people who can apply for help are regulated by law. Here is what it says about them on the State Services website:

“The applicants and persons entitled to act on their behalf in the provision of public services are: former underage prisoners of concentration camps, ghettos, other places of detention created by the Nazis and their allies during the Second World War, legal representatives or representatives of the above persons by proxy” .
