President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky will attend the G7 summit in Hiroshima (Japan), Bloomberg writes , citing sources familiar with his plans. Earlier, Japanese officials said that Zelensky would join the rest of the summit participants virtually.
According to the agency, Zelensky will travel to Japan on a US military plane after a stopover in Saudi Arabia, where he will attend the Arab League summit. There has been no official confirmation of this information yet.
Zelensky's visit to Hiroshima, the epicenter of the first nuclear attack 78 years ago, is especially symbolic given Russian President Vladimir Putin's threats to use atomic weapons in Ukraine, Bloomberg notes.
At the summit, G-7 leaders are expected to negotiate further responses to Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
The Big Seven (G7) is an informal international club uniting Great Britain, Germany, Italy, Canada, France, Japan and the USA.
