The United States imposed new export sanctions on companies in the Russian military-industrial complex, as well as in the field of deep-sea oil production on the Arctic shelf

The US Department of Commerce imposed export sanctions on 69 Russian companies. Also, one company from Armenia and Kyrgyzstan, Medisar and Tro.Ya, respectively, fell under the restrictions. Both are connected with Russia. The first is engaged in the import of industrial and laboratory chemistry, the second – in the supply of electronics. Both companies, according to a statement from the Ministry of Commerce, "prevented the successful completion of verification of who is the final recipient of their products."

In total, there are 1224 positions of industrial products in the list of "prohibited" goods. They are subject to restrictions on export, re-export and transfer on the territory of Russia and Belarus. Among them are paints, building materials, fabrics, transport and more. The United States also banned the import of certain equipment into Russia, including telephones, voice recorders, irons, microwave ovens, boilers, coffee makers and toasters. The restrictions will come into effect on May 23.

Most of the companies under sanctions are associated with the military-industrial complex (MIC). Among them are Kurganmashzavod, Military Industrial Company, Ural Civil Aviation Plant, Khabarovsk Shipbuilding Plant, Tulamashzavod and others. Also, the United States also imposed export restrictions related to Russia's deep-sea oil production on the Arctic shelf. At the same time, as Mikhail Krutikhin, an expert on the oil and gas market, told The Insider, there are no oil production projects on the Arctic shelf that have begun or are planned in Russia. In addition, offshore oil projects deeper than 150m are already under US sanctions.
