AFP: Indian Prime Minister promised Zelensky to do “everything” to resolve the “crisis” in Ukraine

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that he had a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, AFP reported . The meeting took place on the sidelines of the G7 summit.

Modi vowed to do "everything we can" to resolve the "crisis in Ukraine". The Prime Minister of India said he "understands the pain" of Zelensky and the Ukrainians very well. At the same time, India has not yet issued a formal condemnation of Russia's attack on Ukraine.

This meeting between Zelensky and Modi was the first since the start of the war. According to a post by the President of Ukraine on Twitter, he thanked India for supporting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of his country "on the platforms of international organizations", as well as for providing humanitarian assistance.

The post also says that in a conversation with the Prime Minister of India, the topics of demining the territory of Ukraine and providing the country with mobile hospitals were touched upon. Zelensky also introduced Modi to the Ukrainian formula for peace, which involves the withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukrainian territories and their return to the 1991 borders. He invited the Prime Minister of India to "participate in its implementation."

Despite the war unleashed by Russia in Ukraine, India continues to trade with the Russian Federation, buying oil from it. At the same time, countries cannot agree on the currency in which to pay for its supplies.
