Japan announces additional sanctions against Russia

The Japanese government announced the imposition of additional sanctions against Russia, according to Nikkei Asia. In particular, Japanese companies will be prohibited from providing architectural and engineering services to Russian clients.

It is also planned to freeze the assets of about 100 individuals and organizations trying to evade existing sanctions.

In addition, Japan will ban the export of about 80 Russian organizations associated with the military.

On May 19, the G7 summit began in Hiroshima. The summit participants adopted a joint statement on the war in Ukraine. They promised to help Ukraine "as much as needed."

On May 20, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived on a French government plane to Hiroshima.

"Japan. G7. Important meetings with partners and friends of Ukraine. Security and enhanced cooperation… The world will get closer today,” Zelensky wrote on Twitter.

Zelensky is scheduled to meet with US President Joe Biden in Japan to discuss, among other things, the issue of a “coalition of fighters.” He also plans to hold a meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
