Crimean activist Ernes Seitosmanov sentenced to 18 years in prison in connection with Hizb ut-Tahrir

The Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don sentenced Crimean activist Ernes Seitosmanov to 18 years in prison on charges of involvement in Hizb ut-Tahrir. It is reported by "Crimean solidarity".

Seitosmanov was found guilty of organizing the activities of a terrorist organization (Part 1 of Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code) and preparing for a violent seizure of power (Article 278 of the Criminal Code with the application of Part 1 of Article 30 of the Criminal Code).

The Crimean will spend the first four years in prison, after which he will be sent to a colony. After his release, the court appointed him another year and a half of restriction of freedom.

“Terrorism is a particularly serious article. In Islam, this is a crime, categorically condemned. As a Muslim, I am categorically against terrorism, and I consider the article that I am accused of being slanderous,” Seitosmanov said, speaking with the last word.

“Despite such a harsh punishment, I honestly admire Ernes. He does not lose heart, he adequately met that terrible sentence about the crime of which, I am convinced, he did not commit, ”his lawyer Alexei Ladin commented on the verdict.
