A resident of Moscow was sent to a pre-trial detention center for crosses painted on asphalt

The Basmanny Court of Moscow sent Konstantin Kochanov to a pre-trial detention center, who was detained because of several red crosses painted on the pavement. As follows from the case file on the court's website, this happened on May 18. A criminal case was initiated under paragraph "b" part 1 of Art. 213 of the Criminal Code (hooliganism motivated by political, ideological hatred or enmity), Kochanov faces up to five years in prison.

The 25-year-old man is accused of drawing two crosses on Bolshoi Kozlovsky Lane and one on Nizhnyaya Krasnoselskaya Street on the night of May 9. According to the OVD-Info project, Kochanov, according to the investigation, thus expressed "his disagreement with the ongoing special military operation" and "performed public actions that create a real threat to undermine the security of the state and create a threat of harm to the life and health of citizens."

Photos of crosses on the pavement appeared on Ukrainian Telegram channels, where it was suggested that these were some kind of marks for attacks. Later, in the pro-government Russian Telegram channel “War against Fakes”, they wrote that these are “marks for the location of geodetic points – points that allow topographic surveying of the area.”
