The 2nd Western District Military Court convicted Andrey Ivashev, a human rights activist from Komi, of inciting extremism (Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) because of comments on VKontakte, 7×7 reports .
In addition to the term in the colony, the judge imposed a fine of 100,000 rubles on the human rights activist.
The prosecutor demanded that the activist be given eight years in prison. Ivashev pleaded not guilty and linked his persecution to human rights activities.
In 2020, Ivashev wrote three comments on the social network, in which the E center saw extremism and a call for the assassination of the head of Komi, Vladimir Uiba.
