New Russian history textbook talks about “opposing the collective West” – SOTA

SOTA was able to get a new history textbook for grades 10-11. It is dedicated to what happened in Russia from 1914 to the present, and will appear in schools in the next academic year.

The textbook reportedly does not contain any citations and is mainly about how Russia confronts the "collective West". A large part of it is devoted to the war in Ukraine, the events of which are described from the point of view of Russian propaganda.

There are propaganda slogans in the material of the textbook. So, at the end of one of the chapters it is written that Russia “is not for the first time” has to “come into battle with a pretender to world domination.” Three phrases follow: “Our cause is just! The enemy will be defeated! Victory will be ours!".

This slogan concluded the appeal to the Soviet people by the chairman of the Council of People's Commissars of the USSR Vyacheslav Molotov, made on June 22, 1941. In the textbook, it is not given as a quote, but as an appeal to students.

At the end of April, it was reported that a new school history textbook for high school students was prepared by the former Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation (now Putin's assistant) Vladimir Medinsky and the rector of MGIMO-IF Anatoly Torkunov. The authors of the textbook available to SOTA are V. A. Nikonov and S. V. Devyatov.
